Four infant deaths are linked to drop-side cribs.
It is likely that many of the recalled cribs are in the State of Utah, although no deaths here have been reportedMore than 2 million drop-side cribs are being recalled, it’s the largest crib recall to date.
The crib recall involves cribs manufactured by Stork Craft. Four infants have suffocated in the drop-side cribs. These cribs have a side that moves up and down to allow parents to lift children from the cribs more easily. The Stork Craft cribs have problems with their hardware. Parents can also make mistakes in assembling these cribs. These problems can cause the drop-side to detach, creating a dangerous space between the drop-side and the crib mattress, where a child can become trapped and suffocate. Parents are urged to stop using these cribs until receiving a free repair kit from Stork Craft.
The cribs, which were manufactured and distributed since 1993 were sold at major retailers.

Consumer advocates have complained about drop-side cribs before. Over the past two years, more than 5 million of them have been recalled. At least a dozen infant deaths have been associated with drop-side cribs and 110 cases related to the detachment of the cribs.
